QUT has received Australian Research Council funding to lead or play a significant role in five new research centres.
The $34.9 million Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child will be based at QUT. The centre, which will allow QUT to lead international research documenting what life is like when born into the digital age, will be led by Professor Susan Danby.
The $4 million ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Joint Biomechanics will also be headquartered at QUT. The centre will transform the area of personalised surgical treatment of joints using state-of-the-art biomechanical techniques and establish QUT and Queensland as a biomechanics hub in Australia.
QUT will also play a leading role in three other ARC Centres of Excellence: the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society, the ARC Centre of Excellence in Synthetic Biology, and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Plant Success in Nature and Agriculture.
